Tri-Cities: Three Rivers Craft Brews & Bacon Fest - February 10, 2024

The annual Craft Brews & Bacon Festival takes place in February at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick. The festival includes microbrew tasting and live entertainment, with complimentary food provided by area restaurants and caterers, who will each be competing for the best bacon dish of the night. Wine also will be available.

Walla Walla Brewfest - February 17, 2024

Prosser Bottles, Brews, BBQ - June (TBD)

Bottles Brews Barbecues is a daylong festival in beautiful Prosser, Washington celebrating good food, local craft beers and wines. This event is part of the Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association Circuit where the winner qualifies for entry into the National Contest in Tennessee. Moxee Hop Festival - August 1-3, 2024

The East Valley Community Enhancement Association and the City of Moxee sponsor the annual three day Moxee Hop Festival during August that has become a great local tradition to celebrate the Harvesting of the Hop. Events include live music, beer garden, food and craft vendors, breakfast in the park, kids games, and the coronation of the Hop Festival Royalty candidates.

Yakima Fresh Hop Ale Festival - October 5, 2024

Breweries

Breweries and Brewpubs Collage

Four breweries opened their doors in 1997 that are still in business today in the Tri-Cities region: Atomic Ale Brewpub & Eatery (Richland), Ice Harbor Brewing (Kennewick), Rattlesnake Mountain Brewing Company (Richland), and Snipes Mountain Brewery (Sunnyside). There are now over two dozen breweries and brewpubs in the Tri-Cities and other nearby communities combined.

Credit can be given to Bert Grant who founded the Yakima Brewing & Malting Co. in 1982 which became the first modern independent microbrewery in the Pacific Northwest. For more information about Bert Grant, read The Making of a Classic: Bert Grant and the Birth of American IPA.

Brewery Tours - Walla Walla

Walla Walla Brews Cruise offers tours around the Walla Walla region where you will learn more about the process of brewing beers and crafting cider, with a guided discussion of varying styles of alcohol, and what makes each partner that we visit unique. Our standard bus tour's average length is four hours but may vary depending on the itinerary. You get to taste various samples at each brewery location.

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the craft beer industry? The Craft Brewing Program at Central Washington University (CWU) is offering a four-year craft brewing degree.

The craft brewing bachelor of science degree prepares graduates for careers in brewing production, quality assurance, brewery management, beer merchandising, distribution, brewing technology, packaging, safety, sanitation, sensory evaluation, and entrepreneurship.

You can also earn a Certificate in Craft Brewing from Central Washington University. This program is offered as part of CWU's Continuation Education Program and is a one-year program with classes involving biochemistry, microbiology, technology, and business of craft brewing.

The American Hop Museum, located in Toppenish, is the nation's only hop museum dedicated to the preservation of the historical equipment, photos, and artifacts that have long been important in the growing and harvesting of hops.
